Description Annotation

Link specifies how data is moved within the job. The terminology is slightly confusing as an Input Link is used to send data into the target database while an Output Link corresponds to a Select statement and extracts data from the attached database.

Complex Flat File

Hashed File This is a file ordered according to a key. For use as the basis of a lookup, the data may be read into main memory.

Sequential File These are read and written one record at a time from start to finish and output links can overwrite or append to the file. The target file may be a local mapping or, when combined with a FTP stage, a remote file. Although you may, theoretically, define any number of input or output streams, this component does not support merging, so attempting to write a single stream from several inputs may lead to problems.
